Problem with installing 3DNA on Linux
« on: December 29, 2013, 09:03:15 am »
Hi,

I have been trying to install X3DNA on Linux, following the standard instructions.
add the following into .bashrc:
          --------------------------------------------------------------
              export X3DNA='/public/home/shenhao/soft/x3dna-v2.1'
              export PATH='/public/home/shenhao/soft/x3dna-v2.1/bin':$PATH

Then i typd find_pair -h
I saw :
Floating point exception
Is there anything else that's not mentioned here?

Could you be more specific with your Linux distribution? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit? What's the output of running uname -a?

Linux node31 2.6.16.60-0.21-smp #1 SMP Tue May 6 12:41:02 UTC 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

This is the output of "uname -a".

A quick Google search using your 'uname -a' output reveals that the issue may well be due to libc compatibility. You did not mention, but I assume you are using 3DNA v2.1. The recently distributed v2.1 has been compiled on CentOS 5, with details as below:

2.6.18-194.17.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Sep 29 12:50:31 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I believe 3DNA v2.0, which was compiled around 2008, should work on your machine. Alternative, upgrading your Linux should also do the trick. Please have a try of either approach and report back how it goes.
